Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, biostimulatory injectables use different materials to support facial contour and encourage your body’s own collagen response. Sculptra® develops its visible effects gradually, while Radiesse® may create an immediate contouring effect and promote collagen formation over time. Your treatment plan depends on your anatomy and goals.
A consultation is essential to determine if treatment is appropriate and to discuss areas, technique, expected timing and risks.
OUR BIOSTIMULATORS
Sculptra®Made with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable synthetic material. Sculptra encourages gradual collagen formation and may be used to address selected facial lines, folds and volume concerns. Improvements take time to develop; results can last up to two years in some patients.
Radiesse®A calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) injectable suspended in a gel carrier. For appropriate treatment areas, Radiesse can provide immediate volumizing or contouring effects and may stimulate collagen over time. Duration and results vary.
Both treatments are different from hyaluronic acid fillers such as RHA, Restylane and Revanesse Versa. Sculptra is based on synthetic PLLA, while Radiesse contains CaHA microspheres in a gel carrier. Neither is a “natural” filler or interchangeable with the other; placement and indications differ.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR OPTIONS
Frequently asked questions.
How are biostimulators different from HA fillers?
RHA, Restylane and Revanesse Versa are hyaluronic acid fillers. Sculptra and Radiesse use different materials and may be selected for different treatment goals, timelines and areas.
Do results appear immediately?
Sculptra does not provide a lasting immediate filling effect: temporary swelling or reconstitution fluid may initially make the area look fuller, while collagen-related results develop gradually. Radiesse may provide immediate correction in suitable areas, with collagen effects that occur over time.
Can these be dissolved like hyaluronic acid filler?
They cannot be reversed with hyaluronidase in the same way hyaluronic acid filler can. Product selection and informed consent are especially important.
